Rescom Board
Structural Steel Protection

RESCOM Board can be used for 1, 2, 3 or 4 sided encasement, to suit steel configuration and can provide up to 4 hours [240/-/-] fire protection.
RESCOM Boards are cut to size and fixed into position to provide a fire rated barrier around the steel column, preventing the steel section from heating to a critical temperature.

COLUMN

BEAM
Structural Steel Protection

i.    Where column encasement abuts an adjacent wall, ceiling/roof or other element, structural supports may be required for the RESCOM board. This can be by means of light gauge metal pressings [0.5 to 1.0mm BMT], RESCOM noggins or friction fitted fillets in the case of WB,UB,WC,UC, PFC & TFC steel work.
ii.    Adjacent sides of encasement must have a minimum 300mm stager between horizontal  board joints.
iii.    100mm wide backing strips are to be fixed to horizontal board joints, within web cavity.
iv.    Fixing centres shall be maximum 300mm for screw and 150mm for staple.

1.    RESCOM MgO Board.
2.    100mm wide RESCOM fillets / backing board.
3.    Non-corrosive class 3 - 5 No.8 x 40 self-drilling countersunk screws or minimum grade 316 stainless steel staples/nails.
4.    Structural steel column.
5.    Galvanised or Zinc Anneal steel channel.
6.    Horizontal butt joint [must be backed]
7.    Galvanised or Zinc Anneal steel channel.
8.    Galvanised or Zinc Anneal steel angle. [*RESCOM fixing noggin can be substituted for angle]
Note: Fire rated sealant can be used to caulk excessive gaps and uneven substrates.
