WA Bushfires: Emergency warning as blaze burns towards homes in Perth's south-east

UPDATE: FIRE crews have saved homes from a bushfire overnight and the emergency is now over after favourable weather assisted efforts to contain the blaze.

An emergency warning has now been downgraded to an advice for people north of Thomas Road, east of the railway line, south of Moore Street and Cooliabbera Drive and west of the Wungong Regional Park.

The fire, which was burning east of South Western Highway in the Wungong Regional Park, has now been contained but it is not yet fully under control.

It has scorched about 125 hectares of bushland since it was reported just before 5pm on Wednesday.

A cool change has assisted firefighters and there are reports that a sprinkling of rain has fallen in the fire zone.
